Amidst the current selection process for Russian athletes, only figure skaters Adelina Petrosyan and Petr Gumennik, along with ski-alpinist Nikita Filippov, have secured a spot at the upcoming Olympics. Other winter sport participants such as speed skaters and short track speed skaters still stand a chance. However, Swedish cross-country skier Linnea Svahn has expressed her intention to boycott the Olympic competitions if Russians are admitted, but traditional powerhouses of the Winter Olympics, Norwegian athletes, assert that Svahn's stance is unlikely to sway FIS's decision regarding Russian participation.

"President Elias, who is also Swedish, categorically disagrees with Svahn. His likely goal - the inclusion of Russian cross-country skiers in Milan - was disclosed in an interview with Norwegian journalist and commentator Jan Petter Saltvedt from NRK. However, he still lacks necessary support, so time may be running out for him. The decision by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) could prove crucial in convincing those who have reservations, making it a very interesting development", - he said.
